Australian Education Society (AES) was proud to support Malu Kiwai at the 2026 Gordonvale Indigenous Rugby League Carnival, celebrating a memorable grand final appearance and the community spirit behind the team.

Held at Alley Park in Gordonvale, Far North Queensland, the carnival brought teams and supporters together for a weekend of rugby league, cultural pride and community connection.

Representing the Boigu Island community, Malu Kiwai progressed to the grand final—an achievement that gave players, families and supporters much to celebrate. Although the team fell short in the final, reaching the deciding match was a proud milestone and a fitting recognition of the effort invested throughout the competition.

AES congratulates the players, coaches and team organisers on their achievement. We also acknowledge the families, volunteers and supporters whose encouragement and work behind the scenes helped bring the team’s carnival campaign to life.

Supporting Sport and Community Connection
For AES, supporting community sport reflects a belief that opportunities to connect, participate and represent one’s community matter. Rugby league provides a space for teamwork, shared purpose and connections across generations, while giving communities an opportunity to celebrate their identity and achievements together.

Malu Kiwai’s campaign captured this spirit. The team’s call for supporters to wear red and white and keep the Boigu spirit strong reflected the sense of belonging at the heart of its participation.

AES’s sponsorship aligns with our broader commitment to Torres Strait Islander community wellbeing, cultural connection and participation. Alongside our education and partnership initiatives, we recognise the valuable role that community-led sporting activities play in bringing people together.

We thank Malu Kiwai for the opportunity to support the team and acknowledge the carnival organisers, officials, volunteers and participating clubs for their contribution to the event.
Congratulations to Malu Kiwai on reaching the grand final and representing the Boigu community with pride. AES is proud to have supported your journey. National Property College Student Support Agreement.
